Current Events in Finance (CEF) is a student run organization that meets weekly to discuss current events related to the financial markets. All of its members are Master of Engineering candidates with a concentration in financial engineering at Cornell University. In light of the recent economic downturn, we have taken a top-down approach to stock-picking. Starting from the generalities of the broader economic view, we whittle our stock selection to those companies that we believe will outperform a given sector during a bull or bear market.

The Rutgers MBA desk is funded with a live trading account by Hedge Fund LIVE. Students involved in the investment club present their investment research on a weekly basis and make transactions accordingly.

The Frommer Channel is led by Jeremy Frommer and employs a modified day-trading strategy. They use pivot points, moving averages, trend lines, as well as other technical indicators as signals for intraday trades. Generally, the team will have a fundamental thesis on the names traded in their book, often arrived at via collective intelligence. The team likes to use VWAP and TWAP algorithms to build positions.
The True North Channel is led by Dean Machado and employs a long/short equity trading strategy. The core positions in the portfolio will typically be held for several months. With that being said, the team may trade positions on an intraday basis in order to take advantage of market oscillations. Dean and his team perform in-depth fundamental analysis on all names in his book.
Day Trade Well is a securities trading Education Company that offers both novice and experienced traders an opportunity to consult with professional mentors regarding earning a living as a day trader. Day Trade Well offers both in house and online classes that will teach the basics and advanced techniques that have made Mark Moskowitz a successful trader in his 20 year career on Wall Street. Day Trade Well also offers ongoing services to keep the student growing and succeeding as a trader. The Day Trade Well desk, led by Mark Moskowitz, uses a technical, intra-day trading strategy that employs Camarilla Pivot Points as its chief indicator.
The Hillside 1 Channel is a proprietary trading group whose strategies include value oriented micro cap, longs short opportunistic, low frequency statistical arbitrage, and others. The team deploys both algorithmic automated rules based executions as well as manual approaches, and maintains broad portfolio of options, equities, and futures. Managers offer a wide range of exchange floor, hedge fund, and general financial market experience.

The Rosen Vision channel broadcasts a swing trading firm that focuses on cyclical and secular trends in sectors and individual stocks to initiate positions. They use simple technical indicators to identify entry and exit points.
